Q:3 How do clouds form?

The water vapor from the evaporateing bodies of water all clump together when they are high enough in earths atmosphere. During the process of condensation theses water molecules cool off and clump together. They form what we know as clouds.

  1. Is this the same as the fog that we see on the football field? I ask this because if i remember correctly fog is just a cloud that lowered closer to the ground

  2. It is correct that fog is a cloud at ground level, but the way they form is completely different. Fog is made of condensed water droplets which is why it is usually cold when fog forms. For clouds it cools from rising of air parcels. Fog cools by a lot of different reasons.

  3. Clouds are formed when air comes in contact with either a cold surface or a surface that is cooling by radiation. Next the air is cooled below it's saturation point. Then the air will cool as it rises in the atmosphere.
